If You Only Wouldn’t Clap So Hard Edition

Todays links of interest:

  • "Nobody Gets Booed Down Here"
Pitchfork covers the music scene in, er, Antarctica.
  • Mummified man found in front of TV, still on
And he didn’t skip a single commercial! This is exactly the type of viewer the networks are looking for.
  • Ballmer blames pirates for poor Vista sales
Yeah, that must be the reason. It couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the price, hardware requirements, or the fact that it doesn’t offer consumers much that they aren’t already getting from Windows XP.
  • Sirius, XM Set To Confirm Merger Today
If true, the companies would be in for quite a battle with federal regulators. While it would be nice to have the combined programming of both services, the monopoly the combined company would have in the satellite radio market is problematic. Then there are the questions: Will the combined service work with existing receivers? Will XM finally give in to the RIAA’s demands? Will Howard Stern finally team with Vin Sculley and call a few Dodger games?
  • Report Urges FCC to Regulate TV Violence
We aren’t necessarily big fans of TV violence, but we are absolute enemies of an arbitrary body setting arbitrary standards as to what level of violence (or sexuality) (or profanity) is appropriate. Talk about Big Government run amok . . .
  • ASTEROID COULD ROCK US IN 2036
Wow! They already know who the big band of 2036 is going to be? What? Oh. Well, if we can’t get our shit together with 30 years, perhaps we deserve to be destroyed . . .
  • Robot-driven cars on roads by 2030
Yeah, but we can only enjoy them for six years before the asteroid destroys us all . . .
  • MPAA Steals Code, Violates Linkware License
I guess intellectual property rights are only important when the property belongs to the members of your association.
